A rampant England will face an unsettled Sri Lanka in match number 29 of the T20 World Cup 2021 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Monday. The match will be played as part of the Group 1 encounters in the Super 12 round of the ICC event. The game will start at 7:30 PM IST and 6:00 local time

Like Pakistan in the other group, England have been equally dominant in their group. They have won all three of their matches so far and rather comprehensively at that. They began by crushing West Indies by six wickets before going on to hammer Bangladesh by eight wickets. Their most recent clash against Ashes rivals Australia was expected to be a closely-contest affair. However, England again made it a one-sided affair, and trampled the Aussies by eight wickets.

Sri Lanka began their Super 12 campaign by defeating Bangladesh in rather impressive fashion. However, it has all gone downhill for them since. Australia proved too good for them with their all-round strength even though conditions were supposed to favour the Asian side. In their last game against South Africa, Wanindu Hasaranga’s hat-trick gave them hopes of a come-from-behind win. But their pacers let them down at the death. Having lost two of their three games, Sri Lanka will have to win their remaining games to stand an outside chance of qualifying for the semis.

England’s predicted XI: Jason Roy, Jos Buttler (wk), Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow, Eoin Morgan (c), Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid, Tymal Mills

Having won three in three, England should be mighty pleased with their performance in the T20 World Cup so far. Jason Roy and Jos Buttler have taken turns to register half-centuries in the last two games. Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Chris Jordan and Adil Rashid have all impressed with the ball and so has Tymal Mills, though he was slightly expensive in the last game.

Sri Lanka’s Predicted XI: Kusal Perera (wk), Pathum Nissanka, Charith Asalanka, Avishka Fernando, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Dasun Shanaka (c), Wanindu Hasaranga, Chamika Karunaratne, Dushmantha Chameera, Maheesh Theekshana, Lahiru Kumara

For Sri Lanka, Pathum Nissanka, Charith Asalanka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa have displayed good form with the bat, but contributions have not come from Kusal Perera and Avishka Fernando, which has hurt the team. Wanindu Hasaranga needs better support, especially from the fast bowlers.
