After 12 IPL games played, the Delhi Capitals currently lead the points table, with the side's position subsequently assuring it of a place in the playoffs.

Delhi Capitals leads the 2019 IPL betting table with eight wins, and four losses. Close on their heels is Chennai Super Kings, who also have eight wins, and four losses. The top two teams are assured places in the playoffs.

These two teams will subsequently play against each other on Wednesday, 1st May 2019. Place your IPL bets at bet365, with Chennai Super Kings at 1.66, and Delhi Capitals at 2.20 to win.

Delhi Capitals Beats Royal Challengers Bangalore

Delhi has not reached the playoffs since 2012, creating much excitement not only for the team but for IPL 2019. The Delhi Capitals beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 16 runs with final scores of 187/5 and 171/7. Delhi Capitals, under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy, beat Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore, keeping Bangalore solidly in the last place.

Delhi Capitals won the toss, and chose to bat first at the Feroz Shah Kotla Ground in New Delhi. Prithvi Shaw opened with 18 runs, and Shikhar Dhawan opened with a half century. Team captain, Shreyas Iyer, also made a half century, with 52 runs. Rishabh Pant added another seven runs before his LBW, and Colin Ingram added 11 runs before he was caught out. Sherfane Rutherford added 28 runs not out, and Axar Patel added 16 runs not out.

The team set an achievable target of 188, but Royal Challengers Bangalore were not up for the task. Parthiv Patel opened with a decent 39 runs, and Virat Kohli made only 23 runs, restricted when Sherfane Rutherford caught him out. AB de Villiers added only 17 runs, while Shivam Dube added 24 to the total. Heinrich Klassen, caught out by Rishabh Pant, managed only three runs. Gurkeerat Singh made 27 runs, while Marcus Stoinis added in 32 not out.

Both teams struggled in the middle order, with Sherfane Rutherford giving the Delhi Capitals the push they needed to win. Delhi’s fielding improved as the game went on, making a big difference to the outcome of the match. Man of the Match went to Shikhar Dhawan for his half century.

Is Royal Challengers Bangalore Out of the Tournament?

Although theoretically, Bangalore is not entirely out of the tournament yet, it is not looking good for Virat Kohli’s team. It is highly unlikely that Royal Challengers Bangalore will make it to the playoffs. Interestingly, there is still a mathematical chance of the team making it to the playoffs.

So far in IPL history, no team has made it to the playoff with less than 14 points. This is the equivalent of seven match wins during the tournament. If RCB would win their next two matches with very big margins, they could, in theory, make it to the playoffs. The chances, however, are very slim.

Royal Challengers Bangalore is set to play against Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday, 30th April. Bet365 sets odds for the match with RCB at 1.72, and RR at 2.10 for a win.
