Starc, Siddle bowl Australia to 137-run win in Hobart Test

Australia clinched a 137-run win in the opening Test at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart against the visiting Sri Lankans. In what was a rain-affected Test match, Australia managed to pull off victory despite losing the services of one of their frontline bowlers Ben Hilfenhaus through an injury.

In what was a rain-affected Test match, Australia managed to pull off victory despite losing the services of one of their frontline bowlers Ben Hilfenhaus through an injury.

Needing 393 to win, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 255 in 119.2 overs on the final day. The tourists resumed the final day already on the backfoot at 65 for 2 in 37 overs. Kumar Sangakkara scored an extremely patient 63 from 226 balls with 6 fours while Thilan Samaraweera made 49 from 140 balls.

For the Aussies, Mitchell Starc took 5 for 63 in 28.2 overs and Peter Siddle took 4 for 50 in 26 overs. Siddle who finished with overall figures of 9 for 104 runs was named as the Man of the Match.
