Zimbabwean Cricket continues to be in a serious mess all these years. We have seen so many talented players like Neil Johnson, Murray Goodwin, Henry Olonga, Andy Blignaut, Tatenda Taibu, Charles Coventry, Craig Ervine and many others come and disappear in no time. Today it is no different as the 24-year-old talented seamer Kyle Jarvis has shocked everyone by announcing his retirement from international cricket for Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe having played a 5-ODI Series against India go on to play Pakistan from the 23rd of this month. Jarvis has opted out of the series and also from Zimbabwe Cricket to play in English County. In hindsight, something like this was bound to happen in Zimbabwe Cricket as its national players had a stand-off with the board over payment issues.

Fortunately, Zimbabwe in recent times looks adequate as far as the seam bowling options are concerned. However, Jarvis’ exit could inspire few more players to look out for better options. For the record, Kyle Jarvis has played in 8 Tests, 24 ODIs and 9 T20Is with modest success. He has a career best of 7/115 in Test Cricket having made his debut in 2011. Kyle is the son of former Zimbabwe international cricketer Malcolm Jarvis.
