The Third ODI between West Indies and Pakistan at Gros Islet ended in a dramatic tie. West Indies stole a certain Pakistani victory thanks to the efforts of its tail-enders Sunil Narine (14 from 5 balls with 2 fours and a six) and Jason Holder (19* from 9 balls with a four and a six).

Pakistan panicked big time in the last three overs as West Indies smashed 38 runs with just the two wickets in hand. The last over saw the hosts getting 14 runs against Wahab Riaz. Pakistan could have won the match by 1 run but the keeper Umar Akmal couldn’t gather a throw under pressure which would have ran out Holder.

Asked to bat first, Pakistan posted 229 for 6 with Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq top scoring with a 112-ball 75 (with 3 fours and 2 sixes). Umar Akmal scored a lovely cameo of 40* from 31 balls with 6 fours. For the West Indies, Darren Sammy bowled a tight spell of 10-0-30-1.

West Indies in their run chase were on the backfoot at 50 for 3 in the 17th over before Marlon Samuels and Lendl Simmons steadied the ship. Samuels scored an extremely slow 46 from 106 balls to keep Pakistan alive in the contest. Lendl Simmons top scored for the hosts with an 86-ball 75 with 7 fours and 2 sixes. For the Pakistanis, Junaid Khan and Saeed Ajmal took three wickets each. Misbah-ul-Haq and Lendl Simmons shared the Man of the Match award.
