South Africa fast bowler Lonwabo Tsotsobe has been handed an eight-year ban by the Cricket South Africa

South Africa fast bowler Lonwabo Tsotsobe has been handed an eight-year ban by the Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Tuesday after he admitted to match-fixing in a 2015 T20 Challenge
Series. The South Africa board confirmed in a statement that the former bowler had admitted to contravening the anti-corruption code. The ban runs from 24 April 2017.
The 33-year-old becomes the seventh player to be banned by the board after Gulam Bodi, Alviro Petersen, Thami Tsolekile, Jean Symes, Pumelela Matshikwe and Ethy Mbhalati.
Tsotsobe was proved guilty of 10 various charges that includes fixing a game, not reporting the corrupt approach and failing to co-operate with the anti-corruption unit.
The Lions fast bowler regretted his actions and issued an apology.
“I was, at the time, in a very vulnerable financial state and this dilemma too easily persuaded me to participate in spot fixing," said Tsotsobe.
"There are no words to describe the regret I have in relation to my actions and I hope that the cricket world could consider my apology and understand my deepest feeling of remorse.”
Tsotsobe has featured in five Tests, 61 One Day Internationals and 23 Twenty20 Internationals for South Africa between 2010 and 2014 in which he has picked 121 wickets combined.
“In a very vulnerable financial state and this dilemma too easily persuaded me to participate in spot fixing,” Tsotsoble, apologising for his action, said.
Tsotsobe is not the first cricketer to be banned in this match-fixing scandal. His ban follows that of Gulam Bodi, a former Proteas, Lions and Titans player, banned for 20 year for involvement in fixing matches.
